Life Drawing To Continue At The GalleryDue to the high level of interest in the life drawing classes at the Latrobe Regional Gallery, two further courses will be run during term three. By Latrobe City Council - 14th July 2009 - Back to News Gallery Director, Julie Adams, said that the untutored life drawing sessions will continue to run on a Tuesday evening from 5.30pm to 7pm for 8 weeks from 21 July to 8 September.
"This class is an opportunity for adults to engage with other artists and improve their drawing and observation skills in a relaxed atmosphere," Ms Adams said.
"For the beginner or younger artists from senior secondary school, there we are also offering tutored life drawing sessions on a Sunday afternoon from 1pm to 2.30pm. These will run for six weeks from 19 July to 23 August. The Sunday sessions are designed to build skills and help an emerging artist to develop a folio. Accompanying family members may want to spend time in the gallery viewing exhibitions and enjoying coffee at the So Swish Café," Ms Adams explained.
"Perhaps these classes have proved so popular because the tradition of rendering the human form with drawing materials on paper assists artists and students in other areas of their arts practice, whether that is painting, sculpting or printmaking," Ms Adams concluded.
The total cost for the untutored sessions is $100, or $90 for Friends of the Gallery; and for the tutored sessions is $120, or $100 for Friends of the Gallery or students. Easels, drawing boards and clips will be supplied however participants are required to provide their own materials: paper, charcoal, pencils, inks etc. Light refreshments are included in the cost.
For further information on these sessions, please contact the Gallery on 5128 5700.
