Mr Ingram, along with representatives from Wellington Shire Council and Regional Development Victoria, will meet with Air Vice-Marshal Brown ( Deputy Chief of Air Force) to highlight the economic benefits for the region if the school was re-located to Sale.

"The meeting follows representations I have made to Minister for State and Regional Development, Jacinta Allan, and correspondence with Minister for Defence, John Faulkner, where I have flagged Wellington Shire Council’s desire to attract the Interim Basic Flight Training School, which would operate from 2012 for six years," Mr Ingram said.

"The expected benefit to the local economy is in the order of $90 million over the life of the contract.

"The proposed interim basic flying training school would be a substantial economic benefit to not just Wellington Shire, but would have broader direct economic benefits across the Gippsland region," Mr Ingram concluded.
