A Festival Of Events For Small BusinessesA four week festival of events for small business will be staged throughout Victoria during August. By Latrobe City Council - 30th July 2007 - Back to News Designed to support the particular needs of small business and anyone interested in establishing a small business, the month-long program is being coordinated across Victoria by the Victorian Government and other government agencies.
Latrobe City, GREEN Inc, who is partnering with Monash University Gippsland, providing expert presenters, and the AusIndustry Gippsland Small Business field officer will work together to coordinate and offer a wide selection of events in the local area.
According to Leo Billington, Latrobe City senior business development officer, August is being promoted as Energise Enterprise 07 which is an ideal opportunity to support and develop further the significant contribution made by small business to the local economy.
"Locally, there will be a variety of workshops covering business start-up, marketing, networking and accounting practices. These workshops will be held at various locations including Latrobe City offices and at GREEN Inc in Churchill," Mr Billington said.
"Three workshops will be held at GREEN Inc while another five will be hosted by Latrobe City’s economic development unit. In addition, AusIndustry Gippsland Small Business field officer, Terry Vincent, will be conducting his ever popular Better Business Breakfast and Home Based Business Networking seminar.
"This year’s program follows on from last year’s Energise Enterprise month when the three organisations then worked together to achieve very successful outcomes. We find that these occasions provide an ideal opportunity for those running businesses to learn new ideas or even meet other business people.
"The program of events is also worthwhile for those thinking about going into business and therefore need to become familiar with all relevant and useful information," Mr Billington concluded.
Bookings are essential for all workshops and in some cases there is a small cost to cover refreshments.
Brochures and an event guide are now available and can be obtained either from Leo Billington on 0407 541 258, Sharon Fowler at GREEN Inc on 5122 6113 or Terry Vincent on 5175 0600.
