Ron and Andrea Camier from Mountain-Top Experience in Morwell received the ‘Significant Tour and Transport Operator Award’ and their business was recognised as the best in the State. The Awards night was attended by over 1000 people from across Victoria.

‘Experience Gippsland’ a cooperative marketing initiative between Latrobe City, Baw Baw Shire and Wellington Shire also featured as a finalist in the ‘Destination Promotion Award’.

Ron Camier said it was a dream come true after five years of striving to see their passion for four wheel driving transformed into a recognised and successful business. "The awards night also demonstrated that Gippsland really does have something to offer visitors," Mr Camier said.

"Our aim in the local community is not only to bring new business, but also to be an example to others of how new industries, such as tourism, can bring purpose and hope. We want to demonstrate that there can be a future independent of big corporations or government assistance. In essence, for the Latrobe Valley there can be life after the SECV. We love what we do and strongly believe that Latrobe is a great place to live, work and enjoy."

Latrobe City’s Chief Executive Officer, Richard Hancock, who attended the awards to support the five businesses from the Latrobe Valley, said he was delighted with the results.

"The Victorian Tourism Awards are hotly contested and for the Mountain-Top Experience team to win, is an outstanding achievement. Latrobe City is proud to have supported them in their quest to be recognised as Victoria’s best," Mr Hancock said.
