Grandparents’ storytime!

Wellington Shire Council is encouraging grandparents to go along to their local library and share a memorable reading experience with their grandchildren later this month, as part of the council’s Grandparents Storytime @ Your Library drive.

The initiative is part of the Your Future @ Your Library program, with each of the Shire’s libraries hosting special story sessions and craft activities. It also forms part of the state-wide celebration of Seniors Week.

Studies have shown that reading to children of all ages is beneficial in developing their literacy skills. Grandparents can play a vital role in helping youngsters foster a love of reading and books, building on the strong bond that exists between them.
