GippsTAFE Community Open Day

The community is invited to inspect the $5 million refurbishment at the Yallourn Campus on GippsTAFE's Open week (September 4,5,6)

By GippsTAFE - 28th August 2003 - Back to News

The refurbishment project was funded by the state government under the multi-million dollar capital works program, and the developments have assisted in establishing the campus as a state-of-the-art facility for education and training.

The works refurbished facilities for a host of disciplines including trades, hair and beauty, and art, along with a major Student Services precinct, Yallourn Library and brand new fully catered canteen area.

The new Yallourn Campus Library has already proved to be a huge asset for current students, boasting brand new computer facilities, expanded range of resources and bright, spacious surrounds.

The courtyard also provides a relaxing atmosphere with rest areas for students.

The Yallourn campus grounds and gardens were recently upgraded and landscaped by a Community Jobs Program group, whose members undertook a course in Horticulture while working on the gardens and landscaping.

As the region’s largest educational provider, with 10,000 students across Gippsland, it is important that the local facilities are up to date.

The refurbishment at Yallourn, as well as work done at Morwell in recent years, including the Waratah Training Restaurant, ensures GippsTAFE’s facilities are among the best in Gippsland. This in turn encourages better results, with a survey completed last year showing that 88% of GippsTAFE students are either employed or undertaking further study after finishing their courses.
