Local schools, businesses, sporting clubs, community groups and individuals are all encouraged to participate in the four-month program - headed by mascot ‘Paddy the Pedometer’ – which will see participants wearing an electronic pedometer and recording daily personal distance tallies to monitor their progress.

These can be compared to landmark amounts including the 878,571 steps it takes to complete a lap of Wellington Shire, and the 22,207,142 steps needed to stroll around Australia.

Registration for the program is $10 and includes a free monthly newsletter, invitations to events and a special showbag containing:

  • electronic pedometer, valued at $40.00;
  • drink bottle;
  • paddy fridge magnet;
  • discount voucher for Howard & Schuback Mega Sports;
  • personal log book;
  • map of Wellington Shire to track your progress;
  • the Facts about Walking booklet.
