Customer Satisfaction Survey Sees Significant Improvement

Latrobe City Council has again participated in the annual Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey, coordinated by the Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD).

By Latrobe City - 22nd July 2014 - Back to News

The main objective of the survey is to assess the performance of councils across a range of measures and it allows Latrobe City Council to meet statutory reporting responsibilities as part of the preparation of its Annual Report.

Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Sharon Gibson, said that Latrobe City Council was one of 67 participating councils and it was the seventeenth year Latrobe City Council has participated.

"The local government community satisfaction survey took place during February and March with telephone interviews of a random sample of 400 respondents from across the municipality. The survey focuses on five performance measures and nineteen service areas, such as town planning, local roads and footpaths, enforcement of local laws, appearance of public areas, economic development, waste management, recreational facilities, health and human services and traffic management and parking. Each of these is reported to show comparison with the state wide and regional centres average.

"It’s pleasing to see that Latrobe City Council has seen significant improvement in performance ratings on core measures between 2013 and 2014, as well as in several individual service areas . This year’s ratings gains made up for declines in core performance seen in last year’s survey, with core performance measures basically returning to 2012 levels," Cr Gibson said.

"With the exception of council direction, core performance measures are also now back in line with the Regional Cities group and state averages. We remain committed to continuous improvement and will use the survey findings to inform future performance and service improvements," Cr Gibson concluded.
