Community Invited To Comment On Draft Moe Activity Centre PlanRevitalising the Moe train station precinct and a revised town bus route including integrated bus stops are just two of the seven projects included in the draft Moe Activity Centre By Latrobe City - 9th November 2007 - Back to News plan that was adopted by Latrobe City Council on Monday 5 November 2007. The draft plan is currently available for public comment for a period of four weeks.
Latrobe City’s manager transit cities and community partnerships, Jane Burton, said the draft Moe Activity Centre Plan was a strategic document aimed to revitalise the Moe central business district and surrounds.
"The seven projects are the Moe train station precinct revitalisation; Moe bus routes and integrated bus interchange; Moore Street shared zone upgrades; refining the Clifton Street car park precinct; Hasthorpe Place precinct pedestrian space improvements; refining the roundabout overpass and its connections and establishing a demonstration housing project within the residential precinct south of the train station," Ms Burton explained.
"This diverse array of projects will assist in delivering the underlying principles of transit cities which are the creation of safe, well connected, liveable, attractive and vibrant activity centres that will enhance and improve the existing character of Moe.
"We have been delighted with the response from the community during the development of this draft plan, with over two hundred and fifty stakeholders and community members contributing their thoughts and ideas during two events, the Search conference held in March and the Speak Out event held in August. The results of these consultation activities have previously been released to the public and are titled ‘Addendum: Consultation Transcripts’.
"We would now encourage the wider community to have a look at the draft plan. All comments on the plan will be welcomed," Ms Burton concluded.
A copy of the draft Moe Activity Centre Plan can be obtained by visiting one of council’s service centres at Moe, Morwell or Traralgon, or alternatively members of our community can obtain a copy from council’s website at www.latrobe.vic.gov.au.
Any comments on the draft Moe Activity Centre Plan should be in writing addressed to Jane Burton, Latrobe City Council, PO Box 264 Morwell 3840 and received by close of business on Friday 7 December 2007.
