Libraries to help dig up ancestors

Ever wanted to know more about your family’s history? Libraries throughout Latrobe City will hold ‘Beginning Family History’ sessions throughout April for people wanting to research their family’s past.

By Latrobe Shire Council - 8th April 2004 - Back to News

The sessions will focus on basic methods of researching family history and will provide an overview on the family history resources that are available on the Internet and throughout Latrobe City.

Coordinator Traralgon Library, Claire Wood, said that Latrobe residents have access to a broad range of resources that can make the process of researching family history a lot easier.

"Our community is fortunate to have several organisations that can provide excellent services for family historians and people who are tracing their family tree.

"Knowing what and who is available in the local area will save valuable research time, and the ‘Beginning Family History’ classes will give local residents a step-by-step guide to finding these organisations with ease," Ms Wood said.

The ‘Beginning Family History’ sessions will run at 10.30am on Saturday 17 April at the Moe Library; 3.30pm on Sunday 18 April at the Traralgon Library; and 3.30pm on Friday 23 April at the Morwell Library.

To register for a session contact the Traralgon Library, telephone 5176 3630; the Morwell Library, telephone 5128 5436; or the Moe Library, telephone 5135 8350.
