The State Government will deliver these kindergartens as part of the Best Start, Best Life reforms, which were introduced in 2022. Planning for these new kindergartens is now underway, with construction to commence in 2027 and service delivery expected to start in 2028.

Kindergarten expansion welcomed

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Councillor Kate Wilson says this news will have far-reaching effects for families across the Shire, as Council continues to grapple with massive growth resulting in an overwhelming demand for kindergarten spots. "This is fantastic news for our local families with young children, and it will help to slightly alleviate the pressure on the local kindergarten system, which we know is seeing ever-increasing demands."

"This is a wonderful example of Council working closely with the State Government to deliver additional services that our community needs, as we have been lobbying for many years now for more kinders in our area. Council will continue to advocate in this space, as this outcome demonstrates what can be achieved when we work together. I hope to see many more announcements like this for our local area," Cr Wilson said.
