Seniors FestivalVictorian Seniors Festival 2002 By Latrobe City Council - 14th March 2002 - Back to News Tell us your opinion See what others have said This year sees the 20th Anniversary of Senior Citizens Week and the 2002 Seniors Festival takes place between 9 and 22 March.
Celebrations in the Latrobe City are presented by local Senior Citizens Committees and community based organisations, and promoted and co-ordinated by the Seniors Festival Regional Planning Committee.
The Latrobe City Aged and Disability Services Department and the Victorian Department of Human Services supports the Regional Committee with funding and administrative services.
The program of events covers entertainment to suit all tastes and starts with: Major Opening Event: "Take a Step Back in Time" Gippsland Heritage Park, Lloyd Street, Moe Wednesday 13 March 2002: 11am-3pm
- Free BBQ Lunch and Salads, Tea and Coffee including Devonshire Teas.
- Free Horse and Cart rides around the Park.
- Old Movies showing in 20 minute brackets.
- School lessons in the old school room, including imperial and metric maths lessons.
- Demonstrations by Latrobe Valley Woodworkers, Heritage Art Group and Heritage Ceramic
- Group.
- The Cobb and Co. Inn and the Narracan General Store will be trading.
- Snacks, souvenirs and local craft may be purchased at the kiosk.
- All welcome to enjoy the gardens, picnic areas and a glimpse of ‘yesteryear’. Entry $2.50 per person.

Free A.P.I.A Country Concert Kernot Hall, Princes Drive, Morwell Wednesday 20 March 2002: 10.30am Donald Cant is one of Australia’s leading music theatre and concert performers. The Senior Citizens of Latrobe City welcome this musical delight. No bookings required but be early to ensure a good seat!
Donald was an original cast member of the very successful Australian production of "The Phantom of the Opera". He was with the production for seven years, and during this time performed many of the lead roles in the show, the highlight being his performances in the lead role of the "Phantom" which he played to great audience acclaim on almost 500 occasions.
Donald Cant is a most sought after Concert artist. He has performed as guest soloist with all of Australia's major Symphony Orchestras and Military Bands, as well as the Singapore Symphony, with a wide repertoire including the Viennese Operetta, Porter, Gershwin, popular Ballads and Musical Theatre favourites.
