Bass Coast Shire Council will hold two forums in Cowes on Wednesday, 8 May 2002 at the Cowes Cultural Centre, 91-97 Thompson Avenue.
A forum in the afternoon (from 2 pm to 6 pm) will focus on roads and local infrastructure on Phillip Island. A number of Council initiatives and services will be on display, with staff available to answer questions. Staff from VicRoads will also be present.
Issues covered in the afternoon’s roads forum will include:
- Roads to Recovery program
- Bike path strategy
- Road upgrades and maintenance standards
- New works program
- Street cleaning
- Golden Cypress tree replacement strategy.
People intending to come to the roads forum can RSVP to Sharon Fowles on 5671 2211 or 5951 3311 by Tuesday, 7 May 2002.
The second forum at the same venue from 7 pm to 9.30 pm is part of Council’s regular community forum program. Held on the second Wednesday of every second month, the forums provide an opportunity for the community to talk with Council in an informal setting. The issues discussed may be local or Shire wide.
The evening forum will include displays of a wide range of Council initiatives and services, with staff and Councillors available to answer questions and discuss issues. There will also be group discussions focussing on particular areas of Council operations, including planning, environment, traffic management and parking, tourism, health and local laws. The evening will conclude with an informal discussion and light supper.
