Baw Baw Capital Works Program

Baw Baw Shire Council is moving forward with its capital works program with works on the Yarragon streetscape and planning and design for the Drouin access projects well underway.

Council CEO, Glenn Patterson said that civil works in Yarragon are almost complete. "Contractors will start the electrical works around Easter which will be due for completion at the end of April.

"Electrical works include the installation of underground powerlines and reconnecting these to properties along the service road. Powerlines in Yarragon detract from the streetscape, so these will be removed and relocated in the next month," said Mr Patterson.

Work on the gardens next to the new footpaths is due for completion mid to late April. Street furniture will be installed at the end of the project in May after the power lines have been relocated.

Meanwhile, works to improve rear access to shops in Drouin are scheduled to begin at the start of May. The works will provide an access improvement to traders and residents.

"Council has appointed Sure Constructions for the design and construct contract," said Mr Patterson. "Final design works are currently being completed by contractors. Physical work will commence in May when design and demolition works are complete.

"There is currently no formal access to these shops. After works are completed, Drouin traders and residents will have through access from South Road to the car park in the east," said Mr Patterson

Improvements also include widening the footpath and road to the rear of the shops.
