By news@gippsland - 21st April 2021 - Back to News The Phillip Island Library, which will be incorporated into the new Cowes Cultural and Community Centre, will benefit from an $800,000 grant from the State Government’s Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.
Redevelopment of the library will incorporate a reception, administration offices, children’s area with play zone, young adults’ area, group breakout, quiet booths, lounge and public computers with access to printing
Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor Cr Brett Tessari welcomed the news of this funding, thanking Minister for Local Government Shaun Leane and Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale for their support of the Cultural Centre project. "The continued support from the Victorian Government of the Cowes Cultural and Community Centre and further investment in a new Phillip Island Library is great news for residents and visitors,"
"Libraries plays such an important role within our community and the old Phillip Island Library is unable to keep up with demand, so we look forward to delivering a new modern library that has more space for collections, services and programs," Cr Tessari said.
