Funding of $140,000 was received to implement software for the Integrated Planning for our Communities project.

The project aims to aid the integration of the various strategic planning process of Council, through the use of a web based application.

Council’s Director of Corporate Services, Danny Luna said that the project would be extremely beneficial for both Casey and Bass Coast.

"Implementation of this new software will be a great step forward for us," said Mr Luna.

"It will certainly help us with data collection and using that data to inform our decision making.

"Most of the other Gippsland Councils use this software, so it will also be a big help with the work that Gippsland Local Government Network (GLGN) do."

Mr Luna confirmed that the software will also enable Council to link to State and Federal Government strategic plans.

The State Government’s Local Area Planning Support program is designed to help councils develop better data collection and management systems. This will assist Councils to identify community needs, develop good practice guides for local area planning and plan for social infrastructure in growth areas of the state.
