Active Participation Grant applications sought

Wellington Shire Council is encouraging eligible community groups wishing to embark on initiatives which promote physical activity to apply for VicHealth Active Participation Grants.

Local Grants up to $3,000 and Partnership Grants of up to $30,000 will be awarded to suitable initiatives which encourage sport, active recreation and health promotion in the community.

To be eligible, organisations must facilitate or organise community-based sport and active recreation opportunities as one of their primary functions. Applications close Friday 16 July, 2004.

Said Wellington’s Mayor Jeff Amos: "This council is constantly encouraging residents to get out there and get active, and we wholeheartedly encourage local groups to apply for these grants.

"We give our full support to organisations like VicHealth which provide invaluable financial support to initiatives which assist to bring programs promoting the health and well being of our residents."
