Cowes boat ramp facility eastern car park to be upgraded
Bass Coast Shire Council is finalising plans for an upgrade of the eastern car park at the Cowes boat ramp facility.
The Cowes boat ramp eastern car park upgrade project, which will include the sealing the existing crushed rock car park with an asphalt surface, line marking of car/trailer and single car parking spaces, drainage improvements and landscaping, is aimed at reducing congestion in peak periods and improving public safety.
This $675,000 Cowes boat ramp eastern car park upgrade construction project is fully funded by council, with works expected to begin in May
Improvements for the facility
Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Michael Whelan said traffic congestion during peak periods has been a problem for many years at the Cowes boat ramp. "This congestion increases the time it takes people to launch and retrieve their boats."
"The project will also improve public safety, improve drainage and the quality of water which enters the marine environment and reduce maintenance costs across the life of the car park," Cr Whelan concluded.
