Seeking Answers To Agribusiness IssuesAgriculture is one of the biggest income generators for the Bass Coast Shire, but the industry is rapidly changing. By Bass Coast Shire - 12th December 2005 - Back to News Issues and Opportunities for Bass Coast Agribusiness is a major project by Council’s Economic Development team to assess the current industry sector and identify what infrastructure, services and support are needed for the future.
Funding received through the Gippsland Agribusiness Forum will be used to conduct an agribusiness audit and survey this month. A questionnaire has recently been posted to all Bass Coast Shire agribusinesses.
Anyone who has concerns about the survey or has not received a copy, can contact Council’s Economic Development team.
Council’s Economic Development Manager Stephanie Symes stressed that all information provided in the questionnaire is strictly confidential.
"We understand that there are some questions that people may not want to answer due to commercial sensitivities," said Ms Symes.
"But any information that people can provide will be enormously useful.
"And people can be assured that no personal details provided as part of the survey will be released.
Questionnaires need to be completed and returned to Council by Friday 16 December.
The results from this survey will be used to compile a ‘Major Issues and New Opportunities’ report. The report will help Council to design and/or lobby for services and support to meet the needs of Bass Coast Shire Agribusinesses.
The Gippsland Agribusiness Forum funding has covered the appointment of a consultant to develop the report, which is due to be finalised by April 2006.
