Gippslanders are being called on to support local businesses during the current lockdown to help secure local jobs in the region
While we can't physically attend any of our hospitality or retail venues right now you can still support local jobs by purchasing a takeaway meal or buying clothing or gifts via click and collect.
Local MP Darren Chester has challenged the community to buy local produce, takeaway meals and coffee and clothing and gifts from local stores. Mr Chester said while we can't physically attend any of our hospitality or retail venues right now you can still support local jobs by purchasing a takeaway meal or buying clothing or gifts via click and collect.
Support local businesses first
Mr Chester said, "It's a tough time for many but it's important those who can afford to support our local businesses do so during these difficult Covid restrictions. I've always been a strong supporter of putting locals first and supporting local businesses. It matters today, more than ever to protect local jobs. If you are in a financial position to make some purchases, please buy a takeaway meal, hire a local service provider, or shop locally."
Putting the locals first
Mr Chester said many of our small and medium-sized businesses have been through a rough time with drought, fires, floods and the pandemic impacting on cashflow. "During these lockdown periods, we can still support the hospitality and retail sector and keep supporting local jobs. There's never been a more important time to keep putting locals first."
Getting through challenging times
Mr Chester said it was important Gippslanders put locals first by supporting local business at every opportunity. "The small business sector is one of the largest employers in regional areas like Gippsland. This sector relies on owners having confidence to continue investing in our region. Putting locals first and helping each other will get us through these challenging times together."
