of 10 and 11 December 2011.

Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Darrell White, said that the coaching clinics were a result of the international connections developed by Latrobe City’s events team.

"Latrobe City has a proud history in soccer and the Latrobe City events team has built on that reputation to ensure that local teams have access not only to soccer action with the recent run of Melbourne Heart games, but also to top quality development opportunities such as these coaching clinics and the Australian Football Skool State Championships being held in Morwell from 16 to 18 December.

"Coaches from the Stoke City FC Academy will be conducting the coaching clinics as well as ‘coach the coach’ sessions. This will be a great opportunity for our local soccer players and officials to get an insight into the training methods used by the top clubs in English Premier League," Cr White explained.

"Each camp will consist of 12 hours of intense training where players will be coached, monitored and offered feedback by the Stoke City FC entourage. Each participant will also receive a training ‘guernsey’ and a Stoke City FC pack.

"On top of that, one lucky participant will be given the chance of a lifetime with an all expenses paid trial at the Stoke City FC Academy in England. This is a much coveted prize and will be cherished by the recipient," Cr White said.

The Stoke City FC Academy is a new state-of-the-art training complex based in Clayton Wood, England. This £7 million facility caters for the academy and first team squads and features grass fields, synthetic pitches, nine changing rooms, a gymnasium, hydrotherapy suite, medical facilities, dining area and administrative offices.

The fifth Australian Football Skool State Championships will be held in Morwell for the second consecutive year from 16 to 18 December 2011. The event showcases three days of exciting junior football attracting more than 500 junior players across all age groups from all over Victoria, New South Wales and two teams from New Zealand.

Cr White said that the championships were a wonderful spectacle.

"Not only does it provide a great event for local sports enthusiasts to attend, but with 500 participants plus visiting family, will also result in significant economic benefit to our City," Cr White concluded.
