Ingram Supports State’s Bush Nursing Centres

Independent MP for Gippsland East, Craig Ingram, has called on the State Government to provide more funding for the state’s bush nursing centres.

By Craig Ingram - 16th April 2007 - Back to News

"I support the service that is provided by bush nursing centres in Victoria, with five of the 14 bush nursing centres being situated within my electorate of Gippsland East," Mr Ingram said.

"These bush nursing centres provide an important and highly regarded service to the remote areas of East Gippsland and other areas in the state.

"The delivery and funding of services provided by bush nursing centres is being affected by the failure to acknowledge the disadvantage and higher cost of providing services to rural and remote communities.

"Bush nursing centres have put forward a request for additional funding support from the government to partially address this rural disadvantage.

"The other area of significant need is for the government to assist the centres with funding for the replacement and supply of high cost medical equipment that the centres require to allow them to continue providing the high standard of care to these rural and remote communities," Mr Ingram concluded.
