Are you sure of your roles and responsibilitiesBeing a member of a Not for Profit organisation committee can be a lot of fun and very rewarding but it can also be a lot of work. Sometimes things go wrong! By South Gippsland Shire Council - 26th July 2004 - Back to News A free Information Session will be held at Education Centre Gippsland, 26 Jeffrey Street, Leongatha on Wed, 04 August from 5.30pm to 6.30pm to help members of committees decide whether they need to be involved in governance training. All are welcome.
A series of workshops has been developed as a guide to good governance and to provide volunteer Committees of Management with an overview of, information about, support for and resources relating to their role. A resource book, facilitator’s manual and a video have also been developed to support, train and mentor local committees.
"Community Groups contribute significantly to the social, cultural and economic well being of local communities. This initiative is about strengthening these groups – giving them the knowledge and skills to operate effective and strategic committees of management," said Peter Winckler, Manager of the Education Centre Gippsland (ECG), the organization who will deliver this statewide initiative, locally.
This project is funded by the Department of Victorian Communities, Community Support Fund, through the Adult and Community Education Division.
