GippsTAFE GardenWise Offers Free AdviceProblems with your plants? Fed up with them dying? By GippsTAFE - 18th September 2003 - Back to News GippsTAFE’s Horticulture Department is introducing an advice program for the general public on common gardening problems.
"The GardenWise initiative benefits the students as it gives them the opportunity to gain more experience in both their business and horticulture classes, and benefits the community through the advice that students can give the public," said Tony Lea from GippsTAFE’s Horticulture Department.
The team is able to offer advice or recommendations on orchids, lawn care, pests, diseases, landscaping, drainage, irrigation, vegetables, fruit growing, herbs, spices, flower growing, plant ID, tree selection, soils, propagation and pruning.
"GippsTAFE aims to further develop GippsTAFE GardenWise so it becomes an integrated part of the horticulture departments program and encourages interaction between the TAFE and the community," said Mr Lea.
The Horticulture Department is located at the Morwell Campus on a six hectare site on the south east side of Kernot Hall. Horticulture provides vocational training and well as short courses in the areas of floriculture, floristry, bushland vegetation, viticulture and hydroponics.
The GardenWise team at GippsTAFE are available to assist you on the first Monday of each month from 10.00am – 2.00pm, beginning on October 6.
