Glengarry Pavilion to be officially opened
A new, modern pavilion to service the needs of the Glengarry sporting community will be officially opened on Monday 14 August at 11am.
The project received funding from the Victorian Government Community Sports Infrastructure Fund - Female Friendly Facilities 2016/17. Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Kellie O’Callaghan, said the new pavilion would be a welcome asset to the community."A project like this can often end up delivering more than a sporting pavilion. These buildings are a source of community pride. We are grateful to the Victorian Government for the funding that allows projects in our smaller towns to be completed," Cr O’Callaghan said.
The project, which started on 27 February 2017, was completed in early July, by contractor Rick Doultree Builders.
"The main users of the pavilion, the Glengarry Football Netball Club and the Glengarry Tennis Club worked with Council to ensure that the facility would suit their needs. Our outlying towns have a proud history of sporting excellence and a community is often built around the football/netball and tennis clubs.
"Having a new pavilion, with modern facilities, means the users and visitors can enjoy more comfortable amenities on match days and at training," Cr O’Callaghan said.
"The new pavilion includes two change facilities with toilets and showers, an umpire change facility, an all abilities toilet including baby change facilities, first aid room, store room, function room with kitchen and external toilets," Cr O’Callaghan concluded.
