Bus Boost For Bass CoastBass Coast Shire Council is urging communities to take part in a consultation workshop aimed at boosting the areas transport services. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 29th September 2008 - Back to News The State Government is hosting the consultation in Wonthaggi on 15 October to help in its review of bus services in the region. This follows a number of workshops held in September.
The bus review is part of a $14.7 million package to improve transport services in Bass Coast and South Gippsland.
Community Development Team Leader, Kerri Ritchie said community input was a key part of this review and improved bus and coach services for Bass Coast communities.
"I encourage the community to attend and let the government know what improvements they would like to see to public transport links in the area," Ms Ritchie said.
"Council has already held discussions with its Transport Connections Committee and our recommendations have been submitted."
Bus services can be tailored to suit the needs of the local community and could include increased frequencies of coach and bus services, better access to metro rail services for long-haul travellers and new bus routes.
People interested in attending the workshops must call the Department of Transport on 1800 159 713 to register. Those that cannot attend a workshop are invited to write or email how they think bus services could be best improved.
Written submissions can be emailed to busreviews@transport.vic.gov.au or posted to: South Gippsland Bus and Coach Service Review PO Box 7209, Melbourne Vic 3004. The deadline for submissions is Friday 31 October 2008.
