The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) and Latrobe City Council are encouraging all Latrobe City residents to help make the 2011 Census a success.

By Latrobe City - 29th July 2011 - Back to News

Distribution of census forms will begin on Friday 29 July and census night is Tuesday 9 August.

Latrobe's Chief Executive Officer, Paul Buckley said that the Census was for the community and their support was needed to get as accurate a count of our municipality as possible.

"The data collected helps plan for infrastructure and services we use every day, such as roads, schools, medical facilities and public transport," Mr Buckley said.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics will ensure the information entered on the form is kept private. It will not be passed on to any other organisation or government department.

Victorian Census Director, Sam Thomas, urged residents to "take the time to accurately complete their Census form as the participation of all Victorians is needed to help paint an accurate picture of our great state."

You can complete your Census form in hardcopy or online using eCensus.

More information is available online at www.abs.gov.au/census or call the Census Inquiry Service on 1300 338 776.
