Christmas – New Year Message The true spirit of Christmas is about giving and enjoying the company of family and friends. By Russell Northe - 19th December 2013 - Back to News Christmas is a time when we celebrate the special gifts we have been given and to share those gifts with others.
When considering the purchase of a gift please give regard to the importance of shopping locally. Local businesses support our community organisations, schools and sporting clubs along with providing employment opportunities to local residents. So let’s support our local businesses during the festive season.
With the busy lifestyles we lead, this holiday season gives us a chance to sit down and relax and spend time with family and friends.
Christmas is a time to think about what’s important to us and, where possible, avoid getting too caught up in the materialistic aspects of the festive season.
I encourage everyone to look out for each other during the festive season; whether that means spending time with someone who is alone, watching children around water, taking care on the roads and showing respect to other drivers or donating a present for someone less fortunate than ourselves.
During the holiday period consider taking time to visit the wonderful attractions that exist within the Gippsland region.
There is much on offer in our own backyard so why not spend a few days visiting local destinations.
There are many little things that we as individuals and communities can do to make sure that the spirit of Christmas reaches into all homes throughout the Morwell electorate.
Best wishes to everyone for a safe and happy Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year.
