State government to increase statutory planning fees

Following a state-wide review of planning fees, Latrobe City Council is implementing the State Government’s increases to planning permit applications, with the new fee structure to begin on 13 October 2016.

Latrobe City Council’s general manager city development, Phil Stone, said the increase followed a seven-year hold on fees.

"These changes have been directed by the State Government after it identified that actual cost to councils for providing these services were, in most cases, significantly higher than the current fees," Mr Stone said.

"The new fee structure comes into effect on 13 October. Our planning team will do all it can to assist the community through the process."

Further details on the changes can be requested via Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning on 136 186 or visit the department’s website.

Example changes to the subdivision and planning fees:

All permit applications submitted before the beginning of October will be subject to the existing fee rate.
