Become An Arts Volunteer At The Latrobe Regional Gallery The Latrobe Regional Gallery will be offering an information session on Thursday 29 March at 4pm at the gallery in Morwell for people in the community who may be interested in becoming an arts volunteer. By Latrobe City - 27th March 2007 - Back to News Latrobe Regional Gallery director, Jacqui Hemsley, said that there is a variety of different and specialised activities that happen within a regional gallery from collection conservation to children’s workshops and gallery guides.
"The gallery is a fun and exciting place to work in and we have many fields of interest for volunteers to get involved in. From assisting with collection research, to archiving, frontline visitor contact, administration and marketing - there is a large range of rewarding roles to suit everyone’s expertise," Ms Hemsley said.
A volunteer kit will be available to those who attend the information session providing information on what the gallery’s activities are, the areas volunteers can get involved in and the activities in which volunteers might wish to participate.
"In particular, we are looking for about ten volunteers to assist us with weekend visitor service activities including a gallery tour guide, front of counter customer service officers and visual merchandisers. All of our volunteer roles require a contact of at least three hours per fortnight and all training will be provided by the gallery," Ms Hemsley concluded.

Latrobe Regional Gallery is located at 138 Commercial Road, Morwell, and is open Monday to Friday 10am-5pm, and on weekends 11am–4pm. The gallery is closed public holidays. Admission is free.
