Wonderland of Visual ArtInspired by the tales of a literary great, Wellington Shire's Gippsland Art Gallery • Sale will become a wonderland of visual art when the exhibition of recent paintings by local Artist Michael Morgan Alice and Beyond commences later this month By Wellington Shire Council - 13th April 2005 - Back to News Michael Morgan draws on his eclectic style to respond to Lewis Carrollfs fictional classic e Alice in Wonderlandf and the picture bookfs original 1805 illustrations by famed political Cartoonist Sir John Tennial.
Using oil and pigment these vibrantly coloured renderings are richly evocative and highlight the continued appeal of these story book characters, both to children and adults alike.
A revisitation of a childhood fascination for the artist, these recent paintings reflect one manfs interpretation of a literary great in latter life and present the artistfs further exploration of previously unchartered regions in the original literary material.
The result is a playful but profound take on the whimsical world of g Alice h offering a window into the imaginative process and artistic creativity.
