Update On Fires At Noojee And North Of Erica

DSE and Parks Victoria fire fighters are completing hand trails and mineral earth breaks around the fires north of Erica and Noojee with aerial support from water bombers.

Regional Fire Manager David Tainsh said he was hopeful of having the fires contained by later today.

"Fire behaviour has settled down with the wind change last night and we're making good progress from the air and on the ground in getting these fires closer to being under control," Mr Tainsh said.

"We need to get on top of things quickly ahead of the forecast weather conditions on Sunday, so we're putting as many resources as possible onto these fires."

Crews are also monitoring any areas where prescribed burns were ignited last week as part of the Department's fuel reduction and regeneration burning programs.

As a result of the fires, all walking tracks on the Baw Baw Plateau will be closed to the public until further notice. For further information, please contact the Parks Victoria Information Line on 131963 or visit the Parks Victoria +website on www.parkweb.vic.gov.au
