BrainStem Rural Innovation Challenge Delights Gippsland Students

Over the last three months, a selection of Gippsland secondary school students have been working on a diverse range of projects – all of them aiming to offer a solution to a challenge, a problem or an issue in the region’s food and fibre sector. The BrainSTEM Rural Innovation Challenge is part of the GIPPYAg project, an initiative of Food & Fibre Gippsland in partnership with CQUniversity Australia with financial support from the Victorian Government. VegNet Gippsland R&D Showcase and Update!

Our Industry Development Officer and Extension Support Officer for the Vegetable industry are both looking forward to seeing Gippsland growers for the final gathering of 2019.

With updates from Growers, Researchers, Market Analysts & more, this will be an afternoon of new information designed to improve productivity and profitability and focus on consumer insights, precision systems and future farming as well as industry updates on skilled labour and EPA changes.

Our Acting CEO, Dr Nicola Watts spent some time this week with the Food Innovation Australia Limited (FIAL) Team, other Australian food cluster leaders and international cluster specialist for Ffowcs-Williams. It was the first of a number of planned "Cluster Musters" and activities that are focussed on collaboration, innovation and engagement for the greater good of the food & fibre sector across Australia - read more about it here.

Food & Fibre Gippsland's Acting CEO Nicola Watts, together with Communications and Engagement Manager Jody O'Brien will be doing a road trip around Baw Baw, South Gippsland and the Bass Coast on November 27, 28 and 29, connecting with members and businesses across the food & fibre sector.
