sharing his insight and inspiration from his exhibition The Shape of Things: Selections and Reflections currently on show at the gallery.

Latrobe City’s arts director, Julie Adams, said that the artist would talk about his exhibition as an introduction to the workshop.

"The exhibition focuses on his wood sculptures in various timbers and celebrates his significant output as a sculptor. As an artist, Dan researches new ways to find meaning in historical and contemporary abstract sculptural form. Using contrasting edges, form and shape we are taken on his journey with objects as life.

"Participants in the workshop can tap into their creative potential by fabricating a wood sculpture using low-tech methods and techniques. In the workshop, participants will create 3D objects from an assortment of wood materials," Ms Adams said.

The workshop will be held on Saturday 3 September from 11am to 4pm. All materials will be supplied. Light refreshments are available but participants should bring or purchase their own lunch.

The workshop is aimed at young people and adults and costs $50 (or $45 for Gallery Friends members). Places are limited and must be booked and paid for by Friday 26 August. To reserve your place contact the gallery on 5128 5700.
