Terra Timbers reduce waste disposal costsTerra Timbers have not only reduced waste disposal costs of approximately $10,000 but also exceeded their target of 50% to a massive 87% in reduction of waste going to landfill. By EcoRecycle Victoria - 13th August 2004 - Back to News Terra Timbers creates high value timber flooring and furniture products from green sawn timber. The company employs 12 people and has established domestic and international markets.
Through the support and commitment of staff and management, Terra Timbers has been able to achieve a reduction in waste in may areas of its business including:
- 1 tonne of steel strapping recovered by installing a recycle bin
- 243 tonnes of sawdust composted
- 5 tonnes of kitchen and office materials recovered for recycling
Terra Timbers have effectively diverted more than 250 tonnes of materials away from landfill, a great result for the company and for the environment.
"Waste management is an essential part of achieving ongoing improvement in sustainable resource development. Waste is monitored and recorded with the view of gaining efficiencies through reusing, reducing and recycling waste produced by the business", said Terra Timbers General Manager, Paul Heaton Harris.
