Thirteen New Citizens For Bass CoastThirteen new citizens received a warm reception at the citizenship ceremony held at the Bass Coast Civic Centre last night. By Bass Coast - 17th November 2010 - Back to News The new citizens are based in Cowes, San Remo, Wonthaggi and Coronet Bay. The countries of origin include Brazil, China, Italy and England.
The ceremony was attended by Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Peter Paul, CEO Allan Bawden, Cr Gareth Barlow, Cr Veronica Dowman, Cr John Duscher and Hon Ken Smith MLA.
Cr Paul welcomed Ms Htay Htay Aung, Mr Ivo Ferreira Do Carmo, Ms Rafaela Alves Do Carom, Mr Tenilson Oliveira Dos Santos, Mr Gregory Nicholas, Mr Todd Smith, Mr Andrea Spezzigu, Mr Phyo Min Thein, Mr Colin Wiley, Mr Changxu He and Mr Ricardo De Paula Oliveira, Ms Raiane De Silva Oliveira and Mr Ricardo Junior Da Silva Oliveira.
"Congratulations on choosing Australia as your new home," said Cr Paul.
"I acknowledge that the citizenship ceremony is not only a big step to make but also an emotional one.
"I am sure you are aware of what a wonderful place Australia is and we are very glad to have you as part of our Bass Coast community," continued Cr Paul.
The new citizens received a citizenship certificate, an Australian native plant and a Bass Coast gift bag and enjoyed light refreshments with family and friends after the ceremony.
