Communities Encouraged To Apply For War Memorial Grant

Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe is calling upon all ex-service organisations, local councils, schools and community groups to apply for grants under the Restoring Community War Memorials Grants Program.

By Russell Northe - 11th December 2009 - Back to News

"The grants are of up to $10,000 and are available for the preservation, restoration and enhancement of local war memorials and honour rolls," Mr Northe said.

"A lot of the local towns in our community have memorials, which commemorate the sacrifice and service that many Australians have given to their country.

"The memorials take a very proud position in our communities and deserve to be in the best possible condition to show our enduring respect for the men and women who gave great sacrifice to their country whilst in service to it in a time of need.

"This grant has been created so the legacy that the war veterans have left for us is not forgotten."

Applications for the grant close on February 15, 2010 and forms can be accessed by phoning 1300 366 356 or by going to the grants website www.grants.dpcd.vic.gov.au

Forms can also be collected from Mr Northe’s electoral office at 66 George Street, Morwell.
