‘YOU Decide OUR Future’No matter what some people in our community want (us) to believe, not all is well here in Gippsland East. By Clint Eastwood - Independant Candidate for Gippsland East - 16th October 2006 - Back to News As I have said many times before, it doesn’t matter who is ‘in power’, we just want ‘a fair go’. That’s all!
I am not bound to say, what others think I should say, and I refuse to do so. I will continue to say what is in my heart, and as many of you know, East Gippsland and her wellbeing is what is in my heart.
Some people are questioning my motives, and why I decided to stand as a candidate. And the simplest answer is this: If I can make a positive difference by offering another choice of thought, then so be it…
Here are just a few things that I would like to see our candidates comments, and hopefully commitments on:
*Matching dollar for dollar to the $300,000 that The Pelicans have fundraised for a new Cancer and Dialysis facility at Bairnsdale Hospital, as well as increased investment in our other local hospitals and health services;
*A definite action plan for the future health of the Gippsland Lakes, and security of water across our region;
*Adequate, equitable and continuous investment in our land ‘assets’. No more ‘neighbours from hell’, please!;
*Upgrading and/or Sealing of: The Barry Way, Benambra-Corryong Road, Dargo High Plains Road, Omeo Highway, Bogong High Plains Road, Great Alpine Road, and The Bonang Road. It’s the 21st century, isn’t it?
The truth is, that in the scheme of things, most East Gippslanders don’t really care that much, about which individual, which party or which alliance ‘wins the seat’. We simply want someone ‘who will give a damn’ about the entire electorate. We want someone who will demand that Gippsland East is not just heard, but will be listened to. That all the people of the region will be respected, and that this great part of the state; finally and more importantly deserves, will receive its fair share of Victoria’s wealth.
With just six weeks to go until the Victorian state election, a whole lot more information as well as misinformation will be ‘bandied about’ to voters. What the ultimate result will be, is up to you.
