Help shape the Traralgon recreation reserve and showgrounds
A masterplan draft for Traralgon Recreation Reserve to be released for public exhibition.
The public has a chance to influence the future of the Traralgon Recreation Reserve and Showgrounds. From early March, Latrobe City Council will release the Draft Traralgon Recreation Reserve and Showgrounds Masterplan for public exhibition for four weeks.
Influence the future of the Traralgon Recreation Reserve and Showgrounds
The Masterplan will provide a direction for future infrastructure improvements at the venue. "The Traralgon Recreation Reserve and Showgrounds are treasured by many groups and individuals, and need to be upgraded to ensure the facilities can meet the needs of the growing community - not just in Traralgon but also broader Latrobe City and Gippsland," Latrobe City Council Mayor, Cr Sharon Gibson said.
Priority projects identification in the plan is being determined by the public
Latrobe City Mayor, Cr Sharon Gibson said, "Council has worked with the community to bring the Masterplan to its current state and would now like to give the public another opportunity to determine priority projects at the reserve." Among the key initiatives identified in the Masterplan are:
- Replacing obsolete buildings and amenities with facilities that meet current standards
- Providing recreational facilities that meet the needs of user groups and the community
- Encouraging more passive recreational use of the reserve by providing paths, seats, playgrounds and picnic areas
- Developing best practice facilities that provide for the existing and emerging sports

Identification of the priority projects identified in the plan will allow Council to apply for state and federal government funding that will be critical in order to deliver the projects. The latest Masterplan responds to community consultation Council undertook in early 2020. Due to COVID19 restrictions, further consultation has been delayed until now.
