Network for home businesses

Baw Baw Shire Council has assisted to launch Baw Baw Homebiz, a new network that promotes home based businesses across Baw Baw Shire.

By Baw Baw Shire Council - 3rd July 2006 - Back to News

The network has been formed after the success of the StreetLife project where the home based business network was originally formed, said council’s rural projects officer Lynn Mizen.

"With the success of the home based network under StreetLife, many of the members wanted the network to continue, so Baw Baw Homebiz has been launched and will be run by network members with the assistance of council."

StreetLife is a Victorian Government initiative that links communities and neighbourhood business groups to assist in small business growth and improved performance.

Council chief executive officer, Glenn Patterson said the network provided members a fantastic opportunity to share ideas.

"Homebiz’s vision is to create a network where they can share and foster new ideas and growth through education – this is a fantastic network for home based businesses across the shire to get involved in."

The Baw Baw Shire Home Based Business Network held its final meeting as part of the StreetLife project on Wednesday 28 June.

The meeting was held at one of Baw Baw’s home-based businesses – Brandy Creek Wines, where owner Richard Stockdale has a wine tasting cellar and café.

For any further information or if you would like to join the network please contact Baw Baw Shire Council’s Business Development Officer, Kellie Harvey on 5624 2497.
