Northe calls for development of Latrobe Specialist Development School
Member for Morwell, Russell Northe has taken the opportunity in Parliament to call for the redevelopment of Latrobe Specialist Development School in Traralgon.
"The State Governments recent announcement of $61 million to support students with disabilities or additional needs will be gratefully received and rightly so," Mr Northe said.
"But we also need to ensure facilities match student support and in that light I call upon the State Government to provide funding to redevelop Latrobe Specialist Development School in Traralgon as a matter of urgency" said Mr Northe
Latrobe Specialist Development School is truly an amazing school with incredible teachers, staff and students.
However the school buildings including some classrooms, bathrooms and staff room are in really poor condition and in desperate need of upgrades.
In fact most of the schools classrooms are portables which are unsatisfactory for students and teachers alike with accessibility a major issue.
"The Latrobe Specialist Development School needs an upgrade and it needs it urgently" Mr Northe said.
"A new school would make an enormous difference to students with special needs, their families and those who teach them," Mr Northe said.
Students and teachers at Latrobe Specialist Development School deserve a modern facility with modern classrooms and amenities.
"I ask the State Government to give due consideration for funding in next year’s State Budget, to support such a worthy investment," said Mr Northe.
