Mayoral Ball Reaches New Heights

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Neville Goodwin presented Bass Coast Community Foundation Chairman, Alan Brown with a cheque for $12,000 on the weekend.

By Bass Coast Shire Council - 12th December 2006 - Back to News

The cheque was for money raised at the second Annual Mayoral Ball held in October. Cr Goodwin hosted the Ball at the Wonthaggi Town Hall with over 160 people joining in on the fund raising activities. This year’s total surpasses the $10,000 raised in 2005.

Cr Goodwin said he was overwhelmed with the support the Ball had received.

"It was a fantastic event.

"A lot of people worked very hard to make the evening a success," said Cr Goodwin.

"We have a responsibility to look after those within our community who are struggling or finding it difficult to cope.

"On the night, everyone who came along really got into the spirit of things.

"I am extremely proud to be part of such a caring and generous community," continued Cr Goodwin.

Mr Brown said the Foundation was delighted with the support received from the Bass Coast Shire Council.

"The $12,000 received from the proceeds of the Mayoral Ball is a significant donation and will be used to fund areas of community need in the Bass Coast Shire.

"The Foundation would like to thank Mayor Neville Goodwin who did so much personally to ensure the Ball was such an outstanding financial success," said Mr Brown.

The food, decorations and raffle prizes for the Mayoral Ball were all donated, with volunteers from Council and St Joseph’s Parish making up the waiting staff.
