Guidelines For Bastion Point Boat Ramp ReleasedDraft assessment guidelines for the Environmental Effects Statement (EES) required for the development of the planned ocean access boat ramp at Bastion Point, Mallacoota, have been released by the East Gippsland Shire Council. By East Gippsland Shire Council - 28th September 2004 - Back to News CEO Steve Kozlowski said that people who have an interest in the project are invited to submit written comments to the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) by close of business Friday, November 5.
"In line with normal procedure the Victorian Minister for Planning requires the Shire to prepare an Environment Effects Statement (EES) as well as a detailed description of the project, its potential effect on the environment and associated economic and social effects," he said.
The Shire will investigate alternative sites for boat launching facilities at Bastion Point to provide:
- all-tide launching that is adequately protected from wave action and sediment accumulation, to maximise safety and efficiency during launch and retrieval.
- safe, boarding, loading and unloading facilities.
- adequate vehicle and trailer parking and access
- appropriate ancillary (boat washing, fish cleaning, toilets etc) facilities.
Mr Kozlowski said that all written public comments will be considered in finalising the guidelines and will be treated as public documents.
Copies of the draft guidelines are now available from Council’s Business and Outreach Centres as well as DSE offices in Bairnsdale, Traralgon and Melbourne.
