Are You Youthcentral’S Next Roving Reporter? Nationals Member for Morwell Russell Northe is encouraging all budding writers and bloggers in the Latrobe Valley aged between 16 and 24 to consider applying for youthcentral’s Roving Reporter program. By Russell Northe - 29th August 2011 - Back to News "This is a great opportunity for young people in the Latrobe Valley to have their say on local issues and develop skills that will help with future employment prospects," Mr Northe said. Receiving 90,000 visits per month www.youthcentral.vic.gov.au is the most popular government website for young people. "The Roving Reporter program provides an opportunity for young people to research and write news articles and develop skills in communication, multimedia and information technology," Mr Northe said. "There are many benefits to being part of the program - articles are paid for, there is training in writing for the web and opportunities to attend launches, expos, festivals and concerts. "It’s also a great opportunity to develop an online writing portfolio and experience the world of professional journalism first-hand," Mr Northe added. The Roving Reporters contribute reviews, interviews and articles to the Victorian Government’s youthcentral website on a regular basis. "Youthcentral is designed for young people, by young people, and is a vehicle for youth to express their interests," Mr Northe said. "I encourage all our budding writers in the Latrobe Valley to take the time to apply for this great program and showcase their writing flair while equipping themselves with skills which could help in future career paths," Mr Northe said.
