Volunteers, The Face Of Our CommunityHow can a program like the Walking School Bus grow from 6 participants to over 150 in one year? By Wellington Shire Council - 21st February 2006 - Back to News Walking School Bus co-coordinator Renee Heath said the key is individuals rising up and not being afraid to make a change in their community.
Renee believes that their contribution benefits more than the just the Walking School Bus project
"These volunteers are the sort of people who are making Wellington a great place to live.
These people are making a real difference in their communities" she said
Wellington Shire Council has over 40 Walking School Bus volunteers.
These people have a wonderful ‘can-do’ attitude and they have made this project a huge success in Wellington" said Renee
The Walking school operates in several towns and volunteers come from all over Wellington, including Sale, Wurruk, Maffra, Heyfield, Stratford and the surrounding areas.
