Vietnam Veterans’ Receive Welcome BoostThe Hon John Brumby MP, Treasurer of Victoria, today announced a $250,000 Small Towns Development Fund grant for the Vietnam Veterans’ Museum. By Bass Coast Shire Council - 27th February 2006 - Back to News At a function held at the current San Remo site for the Museum, Minister Brumby announced the $250,000 grant, to assist with the fit out of the new Veterans’ Museum at Newhaven.
An additional $64,350 grant was announced by The Hon Greg Hunt MP, Member for Flinders, as part of the Federal Government’s Regional Partnership Fund.
Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Neville Goodwin, said securing the funding was a tremendous result for the Museum.
"The Vietnam Veterans have worked incredibly hard on this project," said Cr Goodwin.
"They raised over $300,000 to buy the land and building for the new museum.
"Council worked in partnership with them to help secure State and Federal funding to help them complete the project."
Cr Goodwin praised the dedication of all those involved in the Vietnam Veterans Museum project.
"I’d like to congratulate John and Krishna Methven, Gary and Jo Parker, Geoff Archer, Bill Noble and all the members for their work on this project," said Cr Goodwin.
"Their pro-active attitude, tenacity and determination to see this project through to fruition is an inspiration to us all."
