Racv Donates Gps Systems To Latrobe City’S Meals On Wheels Volunteer Program

Thanks to a generous donation of 15 GPS navigation systems from the RACV, Meals on Wheels volunteers in Latrobe City will be able to find their way around the municipality without taking a wrong turn.

Latrobe City mayor, Councillor Darrell White, said that the navigation systems would be of particular benefit for those new to volunteering or delivering to new clients.

"Whilst many volunteers know their routes well, there are always new volunteers in training, and of course, new clients receiving the service. These GPS systems will make the job of finding specific addresses much easier and that in turn instils confidence in the volunteers to deliver a great service.

"The service will be more efficiently streamlined, as the meals will be delivered quicker and for those who live in outlying areas such as Yinnar or Boolarra, perhaps on larger properties, there will be no concerns about how to find the property.

"Having each round of meals logged into the system will provide a record for monitoring so that we can ensure that our volunteers are provided with the knowledge they need to do their jobs," Cr White concluded.
