"We gave a commitment to the community at the start of the school holidays that the pools would open on hot days," said Cr Malcolm Hole, Mayor of Wellington Shire Council.

‘We are meeting that commitment by opening the pools during the next few days when the temperatures are expected to be hot," said Cr Hole.

Opening times for the pools on these days will be1:00pm. Pools are planned to close at 5:00 pm however they will remain open later if at 4:30 pm the temperature is above 28 degree and there is strong patron demand for the continued operation.

"We are lucky that the weather is suitable for children and adults to have these additional days to enjoy this healthy activity," said Cr Hole.

"Fortunately Wellington is one of the few Gippsland councils that made allowance for opening pools during this good weather," said Cr Hole.
