2016 Vicsport State CEO’s Conference

Latrobe City Council will host the 2016 Vicsport State CEO’s Conference from 11 to 12 May 2016. The conference will see 38 of Victoria’s Sporting Association CEOs and senior management teams converge on Latrobe City to address the promotion of sport and active recreation.Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Michael Rossiter, said that Vicsport represented the concerns of over 170 member groups, and hosting the event would provide the opportunity for Latrobe City to continue to promote itself as a sporting event destination.
"During the conference, Latrobe City Council will address the delegates directly and provide an escorted tour showcasing our first class sporting infrastructure. We have worked hard to build our reputation as a quality venue for regional, national and international sporting events. This event cements that reputation," Cr Rossiter said.
"We know that hosting regular major events and even special one‐off events results in direct expenditure in our local tourism and retail sectors. This then cascades through other sectors of the local and regional economy.
"Events which attract significant numbers of visitors inevitably bring dollars into our economy. This conference is the perfect opportunity to leverage from, in order to boost economy. Vicsport CEO, Mark McAllion, said he was looking forward to a fantastic couple of days hosted by Latrobe City.
"There is huge value in getting the CEOs of Victoria's major sporting organisations together to discuss common issues and explore opportunities to work closer together. The Forum also provides the opportunity for CEOs to learn more about the facilities and event capability of the region. Latrobe City Council has been great to work with planning for the event and we look forward to enjoying the region's hospitality first hand on the 11 and 12 May," Mr McAllion concluded.
