Help For Consumers Wanting Better Banking Smarter Banking Gippslanders who want help understanding their right and responsibilities when it comes to banking can now obtain useful information from a new publication released by the Australian Bankers’ Association, By Peter Hall - 24th May 2013 - Back to News according to Member for Eastern Region, Peter Hall.
"We as bank customers have a wide range of rights backed by laws and other codes but sometimes it can be difficult to find the right information when you need it," Mr Hall said.
"The new publication, Smarter Banking: Knowing Your Banking Rights and Responsibilities, provides all the information about banking rights in one place."
Mr Hall said the booklet listed common sense precautions customers can take to conduct their banking safely, including when banking online.
"These days many of us conduct our banking online and it is always helpful to have a reminder as to the best ways we can ensure our security and safety when it comes to our finances," Mr Hall said.
The booklet also provides information about what banks are doing to protect their customers and tips on ways people can protect their personal and financial information.
"It also guides customers on what they can do if they have a complaint about their bank," Mr Hall added.
